2015 Rodney Strong Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

About the Wine

This California Cabernet is dry, full bodied, bold and very smooth. Rodney Strong Reserve wines are the result of a careful blend of individual lots from meticulously farmed sections of some of the very best vineyards in Sonoma County. Created in their small lot Artisan Cellar, Winemaker Justin Seidenfeld employs techniques such as cluster pre-sorting and extended maceration. With small tanks and equipment sized for the most discriminating vineyard selection process, their cellar is state-of-the-art and represents the Klein family commitment to producing the finest wines possible.

Winemaker Notes

Rodney Strong’s Reserve 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted from hillside vineyards in the northern reaches of Sonoma County. Targeted blocks are hand harvested and aged in the winery’s finest French oak barrels. Rich and vibrant, this wine leads with layers of dark plum, blackberries and cassis –and is balanced by natural acidity and oak on the long, lingering finish.

Food Pairings

This is definitely a wine to enjoy with dinner, ideal with a black pepper-crusted steak or a rack of lamb.

The Wine Down

One of my new favorites, probably the best bottle I’ve had in a few weeks.

This wine surpasses many Cabernets in the $75+ range. If you’re lucky to get your hands on a bottle, you’re looking to spend around $50 – $60.
