My Beach Essentials

Going to the beach can be fun and relaxing, but it can also turn into a nightmare if you’re not prepared. Here’s what I take when I’m heading to the beach.

Sunscreen

Because who doesn’t need protection! Some of us like to look as natural as possible, for that reason I love this new zinc-based Mineral sunscreen lotion from Sun Bum for your lounging and earth loving pleasure. Broad Spectrum, lightweight and non-greasy. This SPF 50 Mineral Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion from Sun Bum is made of safe minerals to protect your skin from UVA/UVB rays. Don’t forget to check the expiration date! Yes, sunscreen expires.

Beach Towel

This lightweight and compact beach towel fits perfectly in your bag. Despite its light weight, this peshtemal towel is highly absorbent and dries quicker than the regular beach towels.

Beach Hat

Wearing a hat at the beach can help protect your hair and give added coverage on your ears and neck. I like this Women’s Fedora I found at Target for only $8.

Sunglasses

Let’s be honest sunglasses are a fashion statement, but also a necessity. Squinting is no fun and neither are the wrinkles they produce over time. Protecting your eyes from the sun can avoid future eye health conditions. My sunglasses are from Diane von Furstenberg.

Beach Sandals

Wearing sandals can protect your feet from outside elements such as rocks, shells, glass and the hot sand. Make sure your sandals are weather proof, blister proof and comfortable. These Jenny Slide Sandals can be found at Target for $20.

Wipes/Sanitizer

Sweat, saltwater, and sunscreen can drive you nuts. A simple quick wipe-down with a Facial Cleansing Towelette makes you feel instantly refreshed. Hand sanitizer is great to have on hand before a snack or lunch.

Beach Bag

Duh! You need something to carry everything in. I got this cute bag from Target, unfortunately it’s no longer available online. You can find something similar at your local Target. Another favorite of mine is the Large Straw Beach Tote Bag available at Amazon.

A Good Read

I find that getting away from the daily hustle and bustle allows me some time to catch up on my reading. I just ordered Becoming by Michelle Obama and I can’t wait to dive in.

H2O

Staying well hydrated at the beach ensures you can enjoy your beach time without getting dehydrated. Always pack a big bottle of water and sip on it throughout the day.

If you’re anything like me and enjoy drinking alcohol at the beach. Do have two glasses of fresh, cool water for every one alcoholic beverage to ensure you keep your body hydrated.

A Cute Swimsuit

I have to admit this is the one garment I hate shopping for. However this Trina Turk Off Shoulder One Piece Swimsuit has to be one of my favorites.

Have some fun in the sun and stay safe!
