2019 L’ Après-Midi Peter Michael Sauvignon Blanc

About the Wine

The 2019 L’ Après-Midi Sauvignon Blanc is produced from grapes grown on the cool slopes along side of our Les Pavots Bordeaux red varietals. L’Après-Midi translates from French to “the afternoon.” A wine delicious and easy enough to drink anytime -for example, the afternoon. Sir Peter is fond of pointing out that it is always the afternoon somewhere in the world.

Blend: 90% Estate Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Estate Sémillon.
Aged 8 months in 100% French oak barrels from select artisan coopers.

Winemaker Notes

Visually compelling with a translucent, silver color accented by a bright, pale golden hue. The bouquet expresses vine and orange blossom along with a vibrant oyster shell and granitic minerality, fresh lime and lemon fruit, and gooseberry with a hint of pine needle and verbena. The flavors carry elegant white spring flowers – jasmine and white vine rose with a resounding array of fruit, Vosges lemon candy, gooseberry, grapefruit to mandarin petite grain, Muscat and guava. The finish is balanced, precise, mineral-driven, and elegant, revealing white currant, apricot, acacia honey, and quince paste.

Food Pairings

The food pairings for this wine are endless, however I like to pair this wine with chilled shellfish.

The Wine Down

This is by far, my favorite Sauvignon Blanc. As many of us know most Sauvignon Blancs aren’t meant for aging, however the 2019 L’Après-Midi will benefit from several years of cellaring to develop further complexity and express the originality of the vintage.

I know this bottle may be a bit pricey for Sauvignon Blanc, but…. trust me when I say it is worth every penny.

You may find this bottle for $70.00
