About the Wine
The 2016 Ladera Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced exclusively from select vineyard blocks on Howell Mountain and in Calistoga. Each block was selected for its complementary nature, offering differences in clones, soil and micro-climates that when blended together result in a profoundly rich, complex wine with striking aromas and intense fruit expression. While the 2016 season was the fifth consecutive year of drought conditions, lower-than-average yields allowed for slow and steady maturation of the grapes, producing wines with ripe fruit expression and great depth.
Tasting Notes
The 2016 Ladera Estate Cabernet Sauvignon displays ripe fruit aromas of blackberry, black currant and plum, with sophisticated hints of vanilla, clove and spice. On the palate, there is a lovely underlying intensity that frames the pure, black fruit flavors, with ripe, supple tannins carrying the wine to a long, resonant finish.
Food Pairings
Ribeye is the juiciest, most flavorful cut of steak. Therefore, this Cabernet is the perfect pairing as the tannins will help cut through the juiciness and fattiness of this amazing steak.
