About the Wine
A Bordeaux red blend is typically made from at least two grape varieties, however, there are currently 6 grape varieties that are approved to be utilized when making red wine in the Bordeaux region. This Bordeaux Style blend from California is made from 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc.
Tasting Notes
This wine explodes from the glass with aromas and flavors, including blackberry, black currant, black plums and licorice. An added floral dimension imparts an integrated sense of elegance and freshness. While full-bodied with ultra-high phenolic levels, this wine maintains its evenness and poise through an extraordinarily velvety long finish.
Food
THINK MEAT! Yes, you can pair this wine with other kinds of food, but you’ll be maximizing flavor the most if you pair it with roasted potatoes and filet mignon.
The Wine Down
This wine is structured, balanced and powerful. It is fabulous now, but it will definitely benefit after several years of careful cellaring. Del Dotto focuses on a small production of premium wines. While Del Dotto wines remains club only accessible, you can purchase some of their wines while visiting their tasting room.
